ORGL 681 - Leadership and Storytelling

My second immersion course in the ORGL program, I looked forward to this class with much anticipation.  I had been introduced to the topic of “storytelling” in the Gonzaga ELP program that I successfully completed in 2017.

Dr. Joe Albert lead this course and walked us through three stories about ourselves and our community.

The first was my “Who am I” story, which was a story that informed the reader about who I am and what makes me who I am.  It was a blast to write and required creativity that my accounting training had minimized!

The second story was our “Who are We” story.  This story brought out emotions with me as I wrote about my family, our daughter and her fight against renal failure and a then a successful kidney transplant.

The final story was our “Future Story” that imagined our story ahead.  It required me tapping into my expectations for the remainder of my life, and my expectations on what I would do with the successful completion of the ORGL program.

This immersion course gave me a chance to write my stories and hear both the emotional and at times funny stories of my classmates.

By far this was my most impactful course in the ORGL program, which is why “storytelling” is the basis of my Leadership Project.

The representative artifact for ORGL 681 Leadership and Storytelling is our family's "Who are We" story.
